In August 1971 the Channahon Park District was formed to manage the I & M Canal State Park in Channahon. The park was comprised of twelve acres.
Today, there are 19 parks with a total of 377 acres. There are a variety of parks throughout the community to enjoy with a number of different amenities. See what all of our parks have to offer!
The DuPage River Trail is a bike and pedestrian trail that follows the DuPage River from the I & M Canal at Lake Chaminwood north along the West Branch to Illinois Prairie Path in Naperville and along on the East Branch to the DuPage County’s Forest Preserve’s Greene Valley Preserve in Lisle. When completed the trail will be 29 miles long. Click here for trail map.
The DuPage River Water Trail, established to provide non-motorized boating on the DuPage River, runs from Hanover Park to Bolingbrook/Naperville along the West Branch, Glendale Heights to Bolingbrook/Naperville along the east Branch and Bolingbrook/Naperville to Channahon along the Main Branch.
